I was traveling with my aunt, uncle and cousins,
Seeking refuge in the confines of our car.
Through dusty roads, we flee in urgent motion,
Escaping the chaos, escaping the war.
Who am I?
We were surrounded by tanks,
Their cold steel shells glisten in the sun,
And they start shooting right at us,
Puts my entire family to sleep.
Who am I?
I am trapped inside the car surrounded
By the soldiers who would shoot at any movement
So I decided to hide and sit still.
Who am I?
I called the red crescent team, I begged and said
“I’m so scared, please come.
Will you come and take me please?”
Who am I?
Time stretched like eternity
My heart grew heavy with longing
But no one came to save me
And slowly I fell into slumber to join my family.
Who am I?
